Bottom trawling, as evidenced in David Attenborough’s recent ‘Oceans’ series, does immense damage to the seabed, and results in the unnecessary death of ‘by-catch’ - all the other marine creatures caught up in the nets. 

Not only is this cruel, but it further endangers species already on the red list, brings others nearer to becoming endangered, and negatively impacts the entire food chain. 

Bottom trawling (scraping the ocean floor with huge nets) is currently only banned in three areas around Britain, leaving most MPAs unprotected - despite the EU moving towards banning it in all MPAs, and Sweden and Greece having already done so.
