As an animal advocate and wildlife photographer, I have had the privilege of observing and photographing one of our state's most beautiful species - the bobcat. In Massachusetts, we are fortunate to be home to approximately 3,500 bobcats. Contrary to popular belief, there is no overpopulation issue that necessitates hunting these creatures for population control.

Bobcats are not a threat or nuisance; they are an integral part of our ecosystem. Yet, they continue to be hunted predominantly for trophy purposes - taxidermied as props in hunters' homes. This practice is not only unnecessary but also unacceptable.

It's time we respect all life forms and acknowledge their right to live freely in their natural habitat without fear of being hunted for sport or decoration. We must ban bobcat hunting in Massachusetts and protect this majestic species from unnecessary harm.
