Sinn Fein Councillor Arthur Gibbons is the latest politician to express support for a ban on bloodsports.
Responding to an appeal to him to back a ban on hare coursing, the Sligo County Councillor stated that he is "opposed to bloodsport".
"I will be putting down a motion at the June monthly meeting of Sligo County Council, calling for an all-out ban on bloodsport," he added.
A big thank you to Councillor Gibbons for being among the Sinn Fein politicians who want bloodsports banned.

In October 2022, Sligo County Council unanimously passed a motion calling for a ban on cruel hare coursing. The motion tabled by People Before Profit Councillor, Gino O’Boyle stated: “Sligo County Council supports the Animal Health & Welfare (Ban on Hare Coursing) Bill 2020 and will write to Minister McConalogue calling for a ban on hare coursing.”
