Paul Murphy TD has told Newstalk Radio that he is “very confident that this weekend’s hare coursing [meeting] in Clonmel is going to be one of the last.”
In an interview on the Pat Kenny Show [7 February 2022], the Solidarity-People Before Profit TD told reporter Barry Whyte that “hare coursing is a cruel and barbaric activity”.
Deputy Murphy referred to the victims of coursing as “small, defenceless, scared hares who are chased by dogs that are ten times their size”.
“We’ve brought forward legislation to ban hare coursing,” he told listeners. “We will certainly be hoping that this will be debated and voted in the Dail before the summertime.”
