The cruel "Irish Cup" hare coursing event due to take place this month “WILL NOT TAKE PLACE".
According to a notice on the Irish Coursing Club website, “this year’s flagship classic, the Dublin Coach Irish Cup will not take place this season. The club had to succumb to poor conditions last week and the incessant rain since last week has meant the ultimate decision had to be made much to their significant disappointment”.
The animal cruelty event, shamefully sponsored by Dublin Coach, had previously been postponed.
Among the owners of greyhounds that were to be released to terrorise hares at the Limerick Racecourse venue was one owned by Catholic Priest Fr John Fitzgibbon and another owned by John Boyle of gambling company, BoyleSports.
There should be no place in modern Ireland for this cruel bloodsport, which involves snatching thousands of hares from the wild and using them as live lures for dogs to chase. Join us in demanding a long overdue ban.

Boycott Boylesports, Dublin Coach and all companies which support hare coursing and greyhound racing.
With a RED C opinion poll confirming that a 77 per cent majority want hare coursing banned (with just 9 per cent disagreeing with a ban), it is now time for politicians to consign this nasty bloodsport to history. Contact all the newly elected TDs and demand that they act to ensure that a ban is urgently introduced.
