Last year at nationals, my team experienced a crushing loss. We were not at a loss due to lack of skill or preparation, but rather facing the undue challenge of competing against a team with a biological male member. Despite our team's clear disadvantage due to the biological factor, we were silenced from raising issue or otherwise, we were threatened with disqualification from USAV tournaments for the subsequent year.

This predicament has brought to light an imbalance in our volleyball community. Biological males possess certain physical advantages over biological females due to testosterone-driven development; these include greater muscle mass, size, and bone density. Contrary to the essence of fair play, any biological male participating in a competition reserved for females gains an immediate and unfair advantage.

Therefore, we demand that USA Volleyball ensures a level playing field for all participants. It's time to institute a ban on allowing biological males who identify as females from participating in women's USAV tournaments. This is not about diminishing the rights of transgender athletes, but about preserving the integrity of women's volleyball and ensuring fair sport for all involved.
