Ban billboard trucks in Bay City

Ban billboard trucks in Bay City
The Issue
Mobile billboard trucks are creating a dangerous and unpredictable environment in our community.
In the span of less than two months, there have been 2 fires caused by mobile billboard trucks in Downtown Bay City. The first fire happened on April 14, 2026, on 3rd St and caused serious damage to the building next to it. The second fire happened on June 3, 2026, at the corner of 6th & Water St.
As a resident, I am deeply concerned about the recent incidents involving billboard trucks that have caught fire unexpectedly. And I know I'm not alone. These incidents pose a significant threat not just to property, but, more importantly, to the lives of our community members. The two recent incidents happened in the Downtown area where pedestrian traffic is highest and the summer months will see a substantial increase in feet on the streets.

The risk factors associated with these fires include mechanical malfunctions and flammable materials used in the construction of these mobile advertisements. While advertising is essential for commerce, it should not come at the cost of public safety.
Statistics show that mobile billboard vehicles are more prone to mechanical issues that can lead to fires, according to the National Fire Protection Association. With the rising trend in mobile advertising, it is crucial to take preemptive measures to protect our community from preventable dangers.
We urge Bay City officials to prioritize the safety of our citizens by enacting a ban on billboard trucks.
Please consider the safety of our families, friends, and neighbors. Initiate change by signing this petition to protect Bay City from the dangers posed by billboard trucks.
