Petition for a Ban on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Data Centers in Reno County, KS

**This is a separate and NEW petition - not to be confused with the moratorium on BESS & Data Centers petition that is in circulation. Both petitions are active and valid. Please sign them both if you wish. This petition is for banning BESS & Data Centers in Reno County, KS.**

At the forefront of current concerns in Reno County are proposals for large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and industrial data center developments. These projects have generated significant public interest and concern regarding land use, public safety, environmental impacts, water consumption, energy infrastructure, property values, and the long-term character of our communities.

As these and similar industrial-scale projects are considered, many residents and landowners have expressed opposition to their introduction into Reno County and a desire to preserve the county's agricultural heritage, rural quality of life, and local control over land-use decisions.

In response to these concerns, we have created this petition to provide Reno County residents and landowners an opportunity to formally register their position. To ensure the integrity and accuracy of our count, we respectfully ask that you sign this petition even if you already signed the previous petition for a moratorium on BESS & Data Centers AND only if you have not already signed a paper version of this petition.

**We, the undersigned residents and landowners of Reno County, Kansas, respectfully request that the Reno County Commission adopt and enforce a permanent ban on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Data Centers, and related supporting infrastructure within Reno County.**

We believe that decisions affecting the future of our county should prioritize the safety, welfare, property rights, and quality of life of current and future residents. We further request that no permits, zoning approvals, conditional use permits, or other authorizations be granted for such projects.

By signing below, we affirm our opposition to the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems and Data Centers in Reno County and encourage our elected officials to protect the long-term interests of our communities.
