Ned Taylor for Saanich CouncilVictoria, Canada

Hi everyone,
Today I bumped into John Horgan at the Legislature in Victoria. I approached him with the intent of speaking to him, and he was kind enough to put his phone call on hold to talk to me. After a few seconds of talking to him he said “Have we had this conversation before?”. He was right, I talked to him about our petition at an NDP campaign event.
Throughout our conversation I asked him two extremely important questions for our cause. Firstly, if he plans to appoint Lana Popham as his Minister of Agriculture. He chuckled, as we both knew he could not answer that question. But he then continued to say “Lana has been our top spokesperson on agriculture”. To me this was his way of hinting that, yes, she will very likely be the Ag. Minister.
Secondly I asked him, if in the scenario that his Minister of Agriculture wanted to implement a ban on battery cages if he would support that. He avoided giving a direct answer by stating “Well that’s a discussion I’d have to have with cabinet”. However he did finish our conversation by saying “You know how to find me, when the time comes I’m happy to meet with you, myself and the [agriculture] Minister on the issue”
This short conversation is huge for us. John Horgan has committed to meet with myself and his Minister of Agriculture to discuss our issue of banning battery cages (and all other cages) in BC. He seemed very supportive in our conversation and even stated “Keep pushing Lana, you're clearly doing a good job because I remember you!”.
If you at all want to get in touch with me with ideas, questions or concerns I’d love to hear from you: nedtaylor27@gmail.com
In solidarity,
Ned Taylor
