I've noticed that some ceremonies, in their effort to celebrate life, unintentionally harm others. Balloon releases, intended to honor past loved ones, are not just a poetic send-off to the heavens. These balloons, along with the people they represent, don't reach the skies. Instead, they fall back down, becoming litter and hazards to wildlife.

Animals often mistake these fallen balloons for food, leading to tragic consequences where they choke and suffer. The strings attached to these balloons can ensnare birds, turtles, and marine life, causing untold harm to innocent creatures. This is unnecessary and avoidable.

There are considerate alternatives to balloon releases that don't compromise the environment or the lives of birds and marine animals. Flowers and fruits, for example, are biodegradable and friendly to Mother Earth. They offer a meaningful, safe way to celebrate life.

It's essential for us to make thoughtful choices, especially when organizing memorials and celebrations. By halting balloon releases, we can prevent unnecessary litter, safeguard wildlife, and honor our loved ones in a way that reflects genuine consideration and love for life.
