My experience of being raised by a single mother instilled in me a respect for hard work, humble living, and prioritizing family above all else. This sentiment, however, does not seem to be shared by popular TikToker, Ash Trevino. Ms. Trevino's behavior both on and off the platform appears to communicate entitlement and a skewed sense of priorities. With her earnings from the platform, rather than providing her children with essential items like beds—something they've notably been lacking for an extended period—she chooses instead to spend on luxury items for her personal use, such as purses and shoes.

It is understandable that all mothers need support, especially single ones. However, it should not be primarily used for self-indulgence while the needs of the children are perpetually unmet. Ms. Trevino constantly brandishes her personal luxuries on her TikTok account, inflaming divisive sentiment among audiences, and setting a poor example for impressionable young viewers.

We believe that social media platforms should not be avenues for individuals to flaunt irresponsible and unethical behavior, let alone profit from it. In light of this, we call on TikTok to take action by banning Ash Trevino from their platform in all states. No platform should enable such behavior, and it is time that TikTok takes responsibility for the kind of content they allow.
