Ban Animal Testing Nationally

Ban Animal Testing Nationally
The Issue
We two 8th grade girls who are depply passionate about animals health are calling for action to be taken and to ban animal testing nationally. For us, this cause is deeply personal. We are animal lovers who find joy and companionship in our pets, and the very idea of animal testing weighs heavily on our hearts. Animals, with their capacity for emotion and suffering, deserve our protection and respect. It's heartbreaking to think of the millions of animals subjected to painful and distressing tests every year.
Animal testing is an outdated practice that has no place in today's world. With the advancement of technology, we now have alternative testing methods such as in vitro testing, computer modeling, and advanced imaging techniques that are not only more ethical but often more reliable and efficient. These methods can significantly reduce the need for animal experiments.
According to the Humane Society International, more than 115 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are used in laboratory experiments worldwide each year. Many of these animals suffer from severe pain and distress, leading to disastrous consequences, both ethically and scientifically.
Moreover, statistics show that animal testing is not a foolproof method of understanding human biology. Over 90% of drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans according to National Institutes of Health (NIH). This reiterates the need for more humane and modern scientific methods which can better replicate human biology.
We are calling on lawmakers, regulatory agencies, and corporations to acknowledge the ethical and scientific problems associated with animal testing and to transition towards alternative methods. We urge the FDA (The Food and Drug Administration) to implement and enforce stricter regulations and to invest in the development of new technologies that can simulate human responses accurately without the need for animal suffering.
Join us in making a change for the better. By coming together, we can push for legislation that protects animals from needless suffering and promotes innovation in scientific research. Sign this petition to show your support for banning animal testing worldwide and advocate for a more humane future for all living beings. Together, we can be the change that saves millions of innocent lives.
