The Issue

Animal testing is an outdated and inhumane practice that continues to take place within the borders of Ohio. Every year, thousands of innocent animals, including mice, rabbits, and dogs, endure pain and suffering in laboratories for the sake of experiments that could be replaced by modern and more ethical alternatives.

In a society that strives for compassion and respect towards all living creatures, it is imperative that we take action to ban animal testing. Advances in science and technology have provided us with sophisticated methods such as in vitro testing, computer modeling, and human-patient simulators which not only spare animal lives but also provide results that are more relevant to human biology.

According to the American Anti-Vivisection Society, over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S. labs every year. There is no need for Ohio to contribute to these statistics when feasible and humane alternatives exist.

Furthermore, major corporations and nations around the world have already begun to move away from animal testing. The European Union outlawed cosmetics testing on animals in 2013, setting a global example while compelling industries to innovate, rather than exploit.

We believe Ohio has the potential to lead the United States in this ethical revolution. By banning animal testing, we not only align with global standards but also champion forward-thinking practices that benefit both humanity and the animal world.

We urge the Ohio State Government to legislate against all forms of animal testing and commit to investing in and supporting alternative testing methods. Consider the moral implications and the scientific advancements that render animal testing unnecessary and unethical. Let us be the catalysts for change—ensure that Ohio becomes a beacon for compassionate and progressive scientific inquiry.

Sign this petition to protect the welfare of animals and promote a cruelty-free Ohio for future generations.
