As an avid animal lover, I am deeply disturbed by the instances of animal abuse that go unpunished. It is heart breaking to see animals suffer at the hands of those who should be their caretakers. This petition seeks to ensure that individuals convicted of animal abuse are banned for life from owning any kind of pet.

 The Humane Society also reports that people who have been convicted of animal abuse are five times more likely to commit violent crimes against people.

I have read to many cases of abuse where the person responsible has received a ban of only years, these people do not deserve the joy of owning another animal.

It's time we take a stand against this horrific behaviour and protect our innocent creatures from future harm. A lifetime ban on pet ownership for abusers would serve as a strong deterrent and ensure animals aren't placed back into harmful situations.
