Ban and Eliminate All HOAs

The Issue

Owning a home should provide a sense of freedom and control over one's property. However, living within a Homeowners Association (HOA) often feels more like servitude than ownership. Many homeowners, including myself, experience an invasion of our fundamental rights. We face fines for simple acts of personalization and improvement, and are forced to pay additional fees just to live in homes we've worked hard to purchase. These associations often impose restrictions that prevent us from enjoying our private spaces, causing unnecessary stress and financial strain.

HOAs are meant to maintain the value of our neighborhoods, but the power often corrupts these good intentions. The rules enacted can be unreasonable and offer little room for negotiation. For instance, I've been penalized for simple modifications to my home that don't affect my neighbors and certainly do not degrade the neighborhood aesthetics. Instead of creating a community, HOAs have become a breeding ground for frustration and resentment.

Statistically, nearly 25-27% of U.S. homeowners live under HOAs, and this number is growing. While they are supposed to make the community better, too often they overreach, infringing on personal freedoms and creating unnecessary financial burdens. In some cases, HOAs have even pursued foreclosure as a consequence of disputes or unpaid fees, a draconian measure that strips homeowners of their rights and property.

It's time to take action. We need legislative changes to ban and dissolve all existing HOAs. Homeowners could benefit from self-regulating neighborhood groups that operate on consensus rather than authoritative rules, safeguarding the financial and personal freedoms of individuals.

Join me in calling for the abolition of overreaching and invasive Homeowners Associations, and to protect homeowners' rights and freedoms. Sign this petition to urge lawmakers to put an end to HOAs and return autonomy to homeowners, allowing us to truly enjoy the homes we've invested in and cherish. Together, we can make a change for the betterment of all homeowners.
