Hospitals report spikes in burns, hand injuries, and eye trauma each July.

Birds and wildlife flee in panic, abandoning nests and young.

Fireworks release toxic metals and chemicals — including lead, copper, and barium — that contaminate the environment.
Air quality levels can spike 400% higher than normal during fireworks events, worsening asthma and other respiratory conditions.
In many regions, fireworks are a leading cause of wildfires, destroying homes, habitats, and lives.

We call the city ALL CITYS TO Ban the sale and use of consumer fireworks, except for safe, spark-free novelties.
Allow only licensed professional displays, with fire, health, and environmental oversight.
Promote modern, eco-friendly celebrations like drone and light shows.
Educate the public about the dangers of fireworks and the benefits of safer alternatives.

Other States Have Taken Action

Some states already impose strict limits or bans on consumer fireworks — showing that safer approaches are possible:

States with strict or complete bans on consumer fireworks:

Massachusetts — bans all consumer fireworks sales and use.  
Some states allow only “safe & sane” (non-explosive/non-aerial) fireworks — including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, and Wisconsin.  
These states allow only low-risk fountains, sparklers, and ground devices, not explosive aerial fireworks.

County or local bans exist in other states — even where state law permits fireworks (e.g., Portland, OR bans personal fireworks to reduce wildfire risk). 

This patchwork shows that many lawmakers already recognize how dangerous consumer fireworks can be.
