The use of AI on TikTok shop was in the mainstream media this week, a segment on ITV’s This Morning highlighted how some TikTok videos are misleading people into buying products that are nothing like advertised. This is terrible for honest creators who create real content because people will not want to buy from the platform after being told by sources they trust that they’re not getting what they pay for. It’s up to TikTok to put an end to these kinds of videos.

Unfortunately instead of dealing with the problem they’re just encouraging more people to use it, offering courses in how to create videos in CapCut and our FYPs are flooded with videos from people showing how to make AI videos by simply copying the top selling videos https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuKYg87/ some of these videos are ones that should be banned for how misogynistic they are such as this tripe https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuKX3tX/ as well as being misleading and exaggerating products, thousands more are about to be churned out because TikTok does nothing to stop them.

There have been so many examples of AI generated content with shop links exaggerating the product they’re advertising such as this https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuwWkd6/ showing artificial flowers nothing at all like the product and this toy https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuwnHcA/ which does not contain half the animals inside it. Both of these videos despite numerous reports to TikTok are still available to shop from, despite the fact they’re clearly false advertising.

Some good news this week it’s great to see creators still speaking out about why they hate AI videos on TikTok shop, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuKDeaQ/ Annie shows exactly why AI videos are not to be trusted when she bought a vase. Christina highlighted why it’s so important to buy clothing from a real person who actually answers comments and can describe the fit of clothing https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuKHxcG/ and Kelda spoke out https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRuKQC7Y/ against creators using war mongering and terror tactics in order to sell products, something which is technically illegal but is all over our feeds.

A shoutout this week goes to NEOM candles who refused to work with creators who create AI videos as well as Shark, Ninja, Crocs and Northumberland Candle Company who will not use AI videos in their advertising.

Videos highlighting both sides of the argument are important in getting the subject talked about. When you see these types of videos make sure you direct people to the petition.

We are so grateful for your support and if you can please share the petition on your social media channels and ask those around you to sign as well it would be greatly appreciated.
