Most of us already know about the damages that AI is bringing to this world. Yes, it may be helpful to write an essay for school, or to do quick research on a question. However, there are many reasons why AI shouldn't continue or become more advanced. With how much AI has progressed over the years it has become more and more reliable with the working economy, how reliable is too reliable though? According to an article who has done massive research into the negatives into AI, over 50 industries have replaced most of their workers with AI robots. For example, Manufacturing jobs are at stake as AI robots are taking over the tasks of painting, welding, and packaging, they are now overseeing the quality of items due to them being able to point out defects and imperfections in the system. Something the normal human eye can't see, displacing millions of workers and leaving most of them without a job. The operations to keep AI running requires major amounts of compute power that is provided by vast data centers that burn through energy, comparable to that of a small city. This creates poisonous emissions and noise pollution; it uses massive amounts of water when water is already becoming scarce by the day. Along with all these risks there comes others that being, privacy risk, misinformation, surveillance, weaponism, etc. I do not believe AI will turn into a Decepticon, but these are some of the major risks that comes with the benefit of having AI. So, please sign this petition, as a way of spreading awareness to this ongoing problem, the more we ignore it and use it the worse it's going to get for all of us before it's too late to put a stop to it when we can now.
