BAN Aesthetically-Motivated Pet Modifications in Texas

The Issue

From declawing cats to devocalization in dogs, these "aesthetically-motivated" acts are not only terrible for any pets' health (short AND long term), but removing any natural part of any animal (for non-medical purposes) should be criminalized.

You should not be able to:

  • Declaw
  • Remove vocal chords
  • Remove any body part for any reason other than for medical necessity
  • Modify an animal/pet for aesthetic reasons

Exceptions:

  • Medical emergencies where removal of body part is necessary
  • Humane spaying/neutering

Numerous articles have spread awareness to health and behavioral problems that arise after declawing your cat. But other modifications do exist outside of declawing. Devocalization and Declawing, among other "aesthetic" modifications (non medical), are extremely detrimental to animal welfare, health, and inherently inhumane.

If you don't want to be scratched, don't get a cat. If you don't want to listen to barking, don't get a dog. If you don't want an animal to be themselves, DON'T GET A PET.

Animals don't have a voice, but we do. And we can speak up for them.
