Sagel siblings have a sister with cancer and need BCPS virtual education!

The Issue

D Sagel is a beautiful toddler who is battling a very rare and aggressive kind of brain cancer. D and mom are in the hospital for months at a time for intensive chemotherapy and stem cell transplants.

D the youngest of nine siblings each who have been severely affected by their sister's diagnosis, and mother's absence- all made worse by COVID restrictions.

If D were to contract COVID it could be fatal given her weakened immune system. Her oldest siblings have been vaccinated and will attend school in the fall. However the three siblings going into kindergarten, third and fourth grade need to enroll in virtual education to protect their sister. Due to a medical emergency with D, mom missed the deadline to enroll in the virtual program. All petitions for a compassionate exemption have been callously denied by BCPS.

This family is going through enough. Please sign this petition to encourage BCPS to accommodate these children who are suffering so greatly and need our empathy and support.
