Recognise the Muthi Muthi people as the sole traditional owners of the Balranald LGA
The issue
The Balranald Shire Council have recently erected an official sign recognising the Nari Nari Aboriginal tribe as traditional custodians of the Balranald Local Government Area. This is despite over 50,000 years of occupation by Muthi Muthi people and the Nari Nari's own recognition of the tribal boundary as being some 100km east of the Balranald LGA. We ask that the Balranald Shire Council remove the offending words "and Nari Nari tribes" from the sign immediately and that they recognise the Muthi Muthi people as the sole Aboriginal traditional owners of the Balranald LGA.
