The Issue

Platte County is applying for five federal grants to expand the Route 152 and Brush Creek Trail systems. These trails are part of a 32 mile trail loop in southern Platte County that will provide a trail within one mile of over 70,000 residents.

These grant applications will leverage County parks and recreation sales taxes stretching those dollars and ensure that federal funds are spent in Platte County and not elsewhere.

A map showing the segments of trail that will be submitted for the grants can be reviewed below:

There are three grant applications to expand the Brush Creek Trail.  The first one will extend the trail from Creekside at MO 45 and continue north to NW 76th.  The second one is to rebuild the NW 76th Street bridge with a sidewalk for people to access the trail.  The third one is a connection from the existing trail that would connect the 1000 Oaks neighborhood at Nevada.

There are two grant applications to extend the Route 152 Trail to the baseball fields at McHenry Park.

This petition will be submitted with the grant to show the community's support for Platte County's grant application.
