Back Parents. Back Youth Mental Health
The issue
Every parent wants their child to thrive.
For five years EPIC has been with parents, listening and walking alongside. We have heard enough of a system that sends young people home from hospital without support, suspends a struggling child for not showing up, and treats parents as part of the problem rather than the most powerful part of the solution.
Research consistently identifies parental support as one of the most significant protective factors in a young person's recovery and the greatest lever for early intervention. 2 in 5 young Australians experience a mental health challenge every year. Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people aged 15 to 24. Yet Australia has no funded national peer parent support network. Parents are navigating one of the hardest experiences of their lives without training, without community, and without support.
That is a design flaw. One we can fix.
The EPIC community showed us what is possible. Here is what they told us:
- 100% felt less alone, more confident and more hopeful.
- 60% reached out for support earlier.
- 98% believe every parent in Australia deserves this.
In 2023 the Australian Senate recommended the Government fund an independent peer support network for families. Three years on, nothing has changed.
Together we are changing that.
Imagine every parent feeling equipped, connected and supported. Peer support available in every community. No parent navigating this alone.
That world is possible. Please add your name.
Funded. National. Permanent.
