I am an active model railroader, for many years I have relied on Bachmann Trains and purchased their products. At first I thought they were great, but I soon came to realize that (most of) Bachmann's products are mediocre at best. Most of their locomotives and rolling stock are not NMRA compliant when it comes to weight and coupler heights. After performing various tests, I found that none of my locomotives and rolling stock were compliant with NMRA standards. They are underweight, and the coupler heights do not match NMRA standers, they are either too high or to low depending on the locomotive/rolling stock, plus the couplers that come with Bachmann's products are made of cheap plastic that breaks easily. Most other manufacturers offer locomotives and rolling stock that have magnetic knuckle couplers built-in that are NMRA compliant. Hence, Bachmann should take pride in their model trains and pre-equip them with magnetic knuckle couplers that comply with NMRA height standards.
