The Australian Greens are the latest party to send us support for backing changes to the law to prevent the cancellation of parental leave in the event of stillborn babies or early infant death. You can read their statement below.
With Labor, the Greens and the Coalition all backing the changes we have asked for, we are confident that the Fair Work Act will be changed whatever the makeup of the new parliament after the election this Saturday.
We wish our Priya was still with us, and that we never had to go through such trauma. We are grateful that Priya’s legacy will be a change in the law so that future parents don't need to go through what we did, and that their babies are not disrespected.
We are grateful to everyone of you who signed the petition and supported this cause.
Thanking you wholeheartedly ❤️

Statement from Adam Bandt's office:
"Despite progress in gender equality, many women still face significant challenges when it comes to securing parental leave and having that leave protected in the event of infant death and still births.
No one should be put in a position where parental leave is cancelled in the event of infant deaths or stillborn babies, and job security should never be weakened because of pregnancy.
The Greens believe the law should be changed to protect these rights and will seek to pursue this in the next parliament.
