The service industry in Ohio is facing unprecedented challenges with mandated state closures. Restaurants, bars, breweries, wineries, distilleries, theaters, music venues, nightclubs, and other businesses that actively serve food and alcohol are being forced to close.

Businesses are in jeopardy and can use any and all assistance for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis. My own bar in Columbus, Ohio could close.

Closures of the beverage industry affects business owners, service industry FOH and BOH staff, distributors, retail stores and more.
We are asking the State of Ohio to cancel or delay Mixed Beverage Gross & Sales Taxes, and/or Sales tax for a period of time. Payment of these taxes will undoubtedly cause even greater financial burden on already struggling businesses that are closing or being forced to close to stop the outbreak. This delay or cancel of tax will provide financial relief immediately to businesses that will file to pay the February and March tax due. Federal tax credits at the end of this year will not help cash flow, but cessation of beverage taxes can help NOW.
The food and beverage industry in the State of Ohio is world class and we need relief immediately.
