Azalea Against Apartments

Azalea Against Apartments
The Issue
Help save our beautiful Azalea, St. Petersburg neighborhood and park!
The owner/developer of Raytheon Porter Land LLC is planning on putting up OVER 1,000 apartment units, 4 stories high at the vacant property located along 22nd Avenue N & 72nd St N (next to Azalea Park) in St. Petersburg, Florida. This industrial zoned land is a TOXIC filled chemical island surrounded by roads and a ditch, THEY CAN'T BUILD ground level units on parts of it. Can you imagine toxic dust blowing all over St. Pete once they start breaking ground? What about over 1,000 + extra vehicles on ALL surrounding streets/intersections, not including daily necessary deliveries like mail, packages, health services, and/or food. Azalea Neighbors NEITHER!
Pinellas County Schools could not possibly provide a decent, proper education for these families due to the 3 FULL schools, FULL aftercare programs and FULL summer camps near by. Plus, the call volume for police/fire/EMS would also increase substantially, and there has not been ANY new fire rescue/EMS units added for the assisted living facility home built recently located on 66th St and 9th Ave in St. Petersburg! Yet, this serious police/fire/EMS issue has not even been addressed with the development and city.
Even though the people who make this decision aren't cut from the same cloth, WE KNOW, this will seriously disrupt and cause absolute chaos for OUR wonderful Azalea/Jungle Prada/Tyrone area. We can only hope and pray they, (St. Petersburg City council members), DO THE RIGHT THING at the next meeting coming up!
We need WRITTEN proof that we DO NOT want this to go through and our St. Petersburg City council members must SAY NO on this 1,058 apartment unit development!
