🐱Hemos hecho algunos pequeños progresos.

🧑🏼‍⚖️ El ayuntamiento de Conil nos comunicó la semana pasada, que en julio se aprobó por unanimidad en Conil un protocolos marco con los procedimientos y requisitos mínimos que sirvan de referencia para la implantación de programas de gestión de colonias felinas.

📖 Todavía tenemos que conseguir una copia de este documento (se espera que se publique en agosto).

🪤 Y como primera medida a corto plazo, también aprobaron y aportaron 3000 € para la castración de gatos comunitarios: esto será suficiente para esterilizar unos 30-45 gatos y no incluye ningún otro tipo de atención veterinaria.

🤨 Aunque es un buen comienzo, aún se queda corto con respecto a lo que se necesita y exige legalmente: 

😿 Conil tiene unos 600 gatos sin esterilizar que sepamos, lo que significa que el dinero aportado será suficiente y se necesita mucho más.

📦 El mayor problema sigue siendo el abandono de gatitos jóvenes en contenedores de basura, así como en colonias controladas. No existe ningún plan sobre cómo abordar este problema, ni ninguna ayuda a las ONG o a los particulares que acogen a estos gatitos (que de otro modo morirían en la calle).

🪪 Los cuidadores de las colonias aún no han recibido un permiso o carnet para realizar su trabajo y a menudo se enfrentan a problemas y abusos cuando alimentan a los gatos comunitarios e intentan asegurarse de que están bien atendidos. 

🥫 Además, toda la comida para los gatos comunitarios la pagamos nosotros u otros cuidadores privados.

‼️ Así que, aunque apreciamos los primeros pasos dados en la dirección correcta, pedimos más y más rápido. 

🏖️ Con el turismo de verano en su punto álgido, esperamos una avalancha de gatos mansos abandonados en alojamientos vacacionales al final del verano, simplemente porque los turistas alimentan a los gatos mientras pasan su tiempo en Conil, o - lo que es un acto ilegal- se llevan gatitos de colonias controladas a sus alojamientos vacacionales y abandonan a estos gatos cuando terminan sus vacaciones y vuelven a casa. 

🧑🏼‍🏫 Urge una campaña de desensibilación y señalización de las colonias, antes de que se produzca el desastre a finales de agosto.

🐱We have made some small progress.

🧑🏼‍⚖️Conil Council informed us last week, that a framework protocol outlining the minimum procedures and requirements for the implementation of a cat colony management programme was passed unanimously in Conil in July.

📖 We still need to get a copy of this document (expected to be published in August).

🪤 And as a short term first step, they also approved and provided 3000 € for the castration of community cats: this will be enough to neuter about 30-45 cats and does not include any other veterinary care.

🤨 Although this is a good start, it still falls short of what is needed and legally required: 

😿 Conil has about 600 unneutered cats that we are aware of, which means the money provided won’t go far and much more is required.

📦 The biggest issue remains the abandonment of young kittens in rubbish bins as well as in controlled colonies. There is no plan in place how to address this problem, nor any help provided to ONGs or private people who take these kittens in (who would otherwise die on the street).

🪪 Colony carers have still not been issued with a permit for their work and often face problems and abuse when feeding community cats and trying to make sure, they are cared for. 

🥫 Furthermore, all food for the community cats is being paid for by us or other private colony carers.

‼️ So whilst we appreciate the first steps taken in the right direction, we are asking for more and faster. 

🏖️ With summer tourism at its height we are expecting a flood of tame cats being left behind in holiday accommodation by the end of the summer, simply because tourists feed cats whilst spending time in Conil, or - what is an illegal act - take kittens from controlled colonies to their holiday accommodation and leave these cats behind when their holidays end and they go home. 

🧑🏼‍🏫 An education campaign and signage for the colonies is urgently needed, before disaster strikes at the end of August.

🐱 Wir haben einige kleine Fortschritte gemacht.

🧑🏼‍⚖️Der Stadtrat von Conil hat uns letzte Woche mitgeteilt, dass ein Rahmenprotokoll, das die Mindestverfahren und -anforderungen für die Umsetzung eines Programms zur Versorgung von Katzenkolonien festlegt, im Juli einstimmig in Conil verabschiedet wurde.

📖 Wir haben bisher noch keine Kopie dieses Dokuments vorliegen (das voraussichtlich im August veröffentlicht wird).

🪤 Und als kurzfristiger erster Schritt wurden 3000 € für die Kastration von Strassenkatzen bewilligt und zur Verfügung gestellt: Dies wird ausreichen, um etwa 30-45 Katzen zu kastrieren, und beinhaltet keine Gelder für zusätzliche tierärztliche Versorgung.

🤨 Dies ist zwar ein guter Anfang, bleibt aber weit hinter dem zurück, was nötig und gesetzlich vorgeschrieben ist: 

😿 In Conil gibt es nach unserer Kenntnis etwa 600 unkastrierte Katzen, was bedeutet, dass das bereitgestellte Geld nicht weit reicht und viel mehr benötigt wird.

📦 Das größte Problem ist nach wie vor das Aussetzen von Kätzchen in Mülltonnen und in kontrollierten Kolonien. Es gibt weder einen Plan, wie dieses Problem angegangen werden soll, noch wird Vereine oder Privatleuten, die diese Kätzchen aufnehmen (weil sie sonst auf der Straße sterben würden), geholfen.

🪪 Die Betreuer der Kolonien haben immer noch keine Genehmigung oder Ausweis für ihre Arbeit erhalten und sehen sich oft mit Problemen und Beschimpfungen konfrontiert, wenn sie Strassenkatzen füttern und sicherstellen wollen, dass diese versorgt sind. 

🥫 Außerdem wird das gesamte Futter für die Katzen von uns oder anderen privaten Koloniebetreuern bezahlt.

‼️ Auch wenn wir die ersten Schritte in die richtige Richtung begrüßen, fordern wir mehr und schneller. 

🏖️ Da der Sommertourismus auf seinem Höhepunkt ist, erwarten wir bis zum Ende des Sommers eine Flut von zahmen Katzen, die in den Ferienunterkünften zurückgelassen werden, einfach weil die Touristen während ihres Aufenthalts in Conil Katzen füttern oder - was illegaler ist - Kätzchen aus kontrollierten Kolonien in ihre Ferienunterkünfte mitnehmen und diese Katzen am Ende ihres Urlaubs dort zurücklassen.  

🧑🏼‍🏫 Eine Aufklärungskampagne und Beschilderung der Kolonien ist dringend notwendig, bevor Ende August die sichere Katastrophe eintritt.
