Durante la jornada del domingo 30/6, unos imprudentes desalmados abandonaron a más de 12 gatitos de entre 6 y 12 semanas en una colonia controlada. Seguimos encontrando nuevos gatitos cada día, por lo que aún se desconoce el número total. 

Aunque el abandono de gatitos no es consecuencia directa del incumplimiento por parte del Ayuntamiento de Conil de la obligación legal de cuidar y esterilizar a la población felina de la comunidad local, está fuertemente relacionado con ello:

• parte de su responsabilidad es llevar a cabo campañas educativas, informando a la gente sobre su obligación de esterilizar a sus gatos y las multas por el abandono de gatitos y gatos
• Street Cats Rescue sugirió considerar un programa para subvencionar la esterilización de gatos que tienen dueño, ya que el abandono de gatos no esterilizados y gatitos pequeños es la principal razón del aumento de la población felina comunitaria. Obviamente esto no ocurrirá sin un programa de esterilización adecuado.
• si el ayuntamiento pagara la esterilización de los gatos comunitarios, las asociaciones como la nuestra y los particulares tendrían más dinero para gastar en el cuidado de los gatos y gatitos sociables. Tal y como están las cosas, Street Cats Rescue gasta gran parte de las donaciones que recibe en castraciones, para evitar que nazcan aún más gatitos (y funciona: en nuestras colonias no ha nacido ningún gatito nuevo en los últimos 12 meses. Todos los gatitos a nuestro cuidado fueron abandonados y encontrados por nosotros).

Por favor, ayúdanos a aumentar la presión sobre el Ayuntamiento de Conil, que tiene dinero para gastar en un shuttle a una discoteca local durante el verano, pero no tiene fondos para hacer lo que está legalmente obligado a hacer: cuidar a los gatos comunitarios de Conil.

During the day of Sunday, 30/6, some reckless, heartless people abandoned more than 12 kittens aged 6-12 weeks in a controlled colony. We are still finding new kittens every day, so the total number is still not known. 

Whilst the abandonment of kittens is not a direct result of the failure of Conil Council to comply with the legal requirement of caring for and neuter the local community cat population, it is strongly linked to it:

• part of their responsibility is to run educational campaigns, informing people about their obligation to neuter their cats and the fines for abandoning kittens and cats
• Street Cats Rescue suggested to consider a programme to subsidise the sterilisation of privately owned cats, as the abandonment of unneutered cats and small kittens is the MAIN reason for the increase in the community cat population. Obviously this will not happen without a proper sterilisation programme in place
• if the town hall paid for the sterilisation of the community cats, associations like ours and private citizens would have more money to spend on looking after social cats and kittens. As it stand, Street Cats Rescue is spending a lot of the donations they receive on castrations, to prevent even more kittens being born (and it works: in our colonies no new kittens were born in the last 12 months. All kittens in our care were abandoned and found by us).

Please help us increase the pressure on Conil Council, who has money to spend on a shuttle bus to a local dance club over the summer but no funds to do what they are legally required to do: to care for the community cats of Conil

Im Laufe des Sonntags, 30.6., setzten einige rücksichtslose, herzlose Menschen mehr als 12 Kätzchen im Alter von 6-12 Wochen in einer kontrollierten Kolonie aus. Wir finden immer noch jeden Tag neue Kätzchen, so dass die Gesamtzahl noch nicht bekannt ist. 

Das Aussetzen der Kätzchen ist zwar nicht direkt auf das Versäumnis des Stadtrates von Conil zurückzuführen, der gesetzlichen Verpflichtung zur Pflege und Kastration der lokalen Katzenpopulation nachzukommen, steht aber in engem Zusammenhang damit:

• Ein Teil ihrer Verantwortung besteht darin, Aufklärungskampagnen durchzuführen, um die Bevölkerung über ihre Pflicht zur Kastration ihrer Katzen und die Geldstrafen für das Aussetzen von Kätzchen und Katzen zu informieren.
• Daneben hat Street Cats Rescue vorgeschlagen, ein Programm zur Subventionierung der Sterilisation von Katzen in Privatbesitz in Erwägung zu ziehen, da das Aussetzen von unkastrierten Katzen und kleinen Kätzchen der Hauptgrund für den Anstieg der Katzenpopulation in der Gemeinde ist. Ohne ein angemessenes Sterilisationsprogramm wird dies natürlich nicht möglich sein.
• Wenn das Rathaus die Kosten für die Sterilisation der kommunalen Katzen übernehmen würde, hätten Vereine wie wir und Privatpersonen mehr Geld, um sich um adoptierbare Katzen und Kätzchen zu kümmern. Augenblicklich gibt Street Cats Rescue einen Großteil der Spendengelder für Kastrationen aus, um zu verhindern, dass noch mehr Kätzchen geboren werden (und es funktioniert: in unseren Kolonien wurden in den letzten 12 Monaten keine neuen Kätzchen geboren. Alle Kätzchen in unserer Obhut wurden ausgesetzt und von uns gefunden).

Bitte hilf uns, den Druck auf den Stadtrat von Conil zu erhöhen, der im Sommer Geld für einen Shuttlebus zu einem örtlichen Tanzclub ausgeben kann, aber keine Mittel hat, um das zu tun, wozu er gesetzlich verpflichtet ist: sich um die Strassenkatzen von Conil zu kümmern.
