We, the undersigned parents, players, coaches, volunteers, and community members, respectfully request that the City of Corona and AYSO work together to find a solution that allows our AYSO competition teams to continue practicing within our community.

Our teams have been informed that they will no longer be able to practice in our own city, at Santana Park, and must instead travel approximately 20 minutes away to another city, Shearer Park in Norco, for every practice. While we understand that budget considerations are important, this decision places a significant burden on the families who make AYSO possible.

This change will have several unintended consequences:

-Increased travel time for families, often multiple nights each week.
-Greater hardship for working parents who are already balancing work, school, and extracurricular activities.
-Additional fuel and transportation costs for families.
-Less time for players to complete homework, eat dinner, and spend time with their families.
-Reduced volunteer participation from coaches and team staff who already dedicate countless hours to serving our community.
-A higher likelihood that families will leave AYSO for other organizations that can provide more convenient practice locations.

AYSO has always been built on the principles of community, positive player development, and making soccer accessible to every child. Requiring our players to leave the community to practice undermines those values and creates unnecessary barriers to participation.

We are not simply asking that the decision be reversed—we are asking for collaboration. We urge the City of Corona and AYSO to explore reasonable alternatives, including:

-Reviewing the increased lighting fees to determine whether they can be reduced or phased in.
-Identifying other city fields or facilities that could accommodate evening practices and reserving space for comp teams. 

Our competition teams proudly represent our community throughout the region. They deserve the opportunity to train in the city they represent, and our families deserve to remain active participants in the community where they live.

We respectfully ask the City of Corona and AYSO leadership to reconsider this decision and work together to develop a solution that keeps our players practicing close to home.
