Award the service members killed in Chattanooga the Purple Heart

This petition made change with 19,403 supporters!

As an Air Force veteran, Tennessean, and American, I was hit hard by the shooting in Chattanooga. Sacrifice is a part of service, but we never expect our men and women in uniform to have to make the ultimate sacrifice right here at home. These five men did, and I want to be sure they are honored.

Please join me in calling on President Obama to award these brave service members who died in the line of duty the Purple Heart.

Congress recently clarified the standards for awarding the Purple Heart to cover domestic attacks. Because of this, the victims of the Fort Hood shootings were finally honored, more than five years after it happened. The families of the men who died in Chattanooga shouldn’t have to wait that long for their sacrifice to be recognized.

I started this petition because the conversation has already turned away from these heroic men who lost their lives in Chattanooga. Let us return to what matters, and honor their memory and service. Join me in calling for the Purple Heart to be awarded to the five service members who gave everything for their country.
