As a chronic depressive I suffer terribly from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) to this day. For as far back as I can remember IBS has been a major problem in my life. I can remember going to see a consultant gastroenterologist at St Marks Hospital in Harrow back in 1997 after being admitted to A & E at Northwick Park Hospital for a suspected heart attack. Following an ECG including various other tests I was referred to Gastroenterology and IBS was the diagnosis however the cause was by no means crystal clear, but as I was suffering from Anxiety & Depression at the time, the gastroenterologist suspected the likely cause to be psychological in nature.
The following article titled, Irritable Bowel Syndrome is 'psychological' new study shows makes for an interesting read and offers real hope for many sufferers of IBS.
