Chester F. Awalt High School opened in 1961, and was named after the long-time Mountain View school district trustee of the same name.  District restructuring in 1981 resulted in the closure of the original Mountain View High School (on Castro Street), and the Awalt campus was renamed Mountain View High School.

The campus is currently under major reconstruction, and this petition is to solicit signatures in support of renaming the campus back to its original name and honoree: Chester F. Awalt.  Upon securing sufficient signatures, we will forward the petition to the Mountain View Los Altos High School District, for their consideration.
