The final straw was may daughter being assaulted. The police finally had to arrest Jacob Banner.

In 2012 me and my wife opened a bed and breakfast in Banner Elk, NC. WE enjoyed meeting people and had a great time until coming home to find we had been robbed while on vacation. Guns, jewelry, silver, electronics and more were taken. Some of the items were recovered (the silver) in the possession of Jacob Banner. The silver was found in his truck.

He was not charged with breaking and entering.
He was not charged with larceny.
He wasn't even charged with possession of stolen goods.

Last year the silver was stolen AGAIN. This time only some of it was recovered (by the Banner Elk Police Department). 

It seemed pretty obvious that he has stolen it, but he most certainly had it in his possession. Again, he was never charged. However, when I tried to catch him (unsuccessfully) I was charged with attempted assault; however, this was after the silver disappeared for a third time - never to be recovered.

I have been told the young man is a police informant but have been unable to confirm that; but it would explain his ability to commit break ins (my house was not the only one) with impunity in Avery County NC.

Yesterday he assaulted and tried to strangle my daughter. He was arrested but will only be held without bond for 48 hours.

I have asked to be heard regarding bond but no one will return my calls from the sheriff's office.

I would ask that you call the Avery County Sheriff's Office 828-733-3858 or Sheriff Kevin Fry at 828-387-5575. Help me stop this young man and get the police to simply enforce the law in Avery County. Enough is enough.
