I am an eigth grade student at Autrey Mill Middle School. At Autrey Mill Middle School we have been given IPads to use during the school year. These IPads are used everyday in class and are very neccesary. So, basically you have to have one. Luckily you do not need to pay for the IPad. The problem comes with damages. Now you do need to sign a form that says you will accept damages on IPad and pay for them, but if you do not sign the form than you do not get an IPad. If you do not get an IPad then you basically can not go to school here and that would be a problem. But, also little tiny scratches and bends should not be counted as major damages.

So, at the end of the year we have to give the IPad back so they check the IPad to make sure that the IPad is not damaged. There are two categories that different damages go into, damaged and used. One thing that falls under damaged is bent corners on the Ipad case. At first, this might seem damaged, but I feel that it should actually be classified as used. This is because the bent corners actually come from the corners resting on the stands when you want to hold the Ipad up. Also these bent corners appear in about 95% of Ipad cases at the school in varying degrees. Because of this many students, almost 25% of students, are having to pay to replace the case just because of the used corners. That is why I think bent corners should be classified as used and not damaged. 

This is just one problem. Besides just this there are many little damages, like scratches on the case, that should not be counted as such big damages that we have to pay for a new IPad case. Most of things just come from use and should be counted as used, not damaged.

Also, the IPads and IPad cases are reused every year. This means that a damage caused by the last person that was not that noticeable last year will get worse when the next person has it. Then the next person will get charged for damage that the last person caused and it just got worse with the next person.

Finally, the IPad cases that the school chose are pretty expensive. In fact they are $40. This is enough to pay for 440 meals for hungry people through Feeding America.

Also beyond just IPad cases, people are get charged outrageous prices for little damages on power cords that still work great.

So, please make the right desicion, and sign the petition to eliminate a fee on such little damges on IPad cases.
