Autism schools for those without learning disabilities

The Issue

I understand and honour the struggles of autistic children/teens/young people with higher support needs, or those who have co-occurring learning difficulties or are nonverbal, but it seems unfair that you HAVE to have an EHCP to go to a specialist school. I know some people struggle with social skills, change/transitions and sensory things (maybe extremely) and motor skills and planning and meltdowns and other things moderately, but they might have a very high IQ, ability to mask and can function (and excel) in Primary School. But what if they can’t cope at secondary. These people would benefit from having an EHCP and going to a Specialist school, but simply because they doesn’t struggle at school they won’t get the help they  need. I have a feeling many people are going through the same thing. So my petition is that there should be autism/special schools for those who have normal or high intelligence and seem “less disabled”. This way they would be able to get the support they need, but without having “too much” or not being accepted.
