Update: Open Letter to Premier Peter Malinauskas

Thank you to every person who has signed this petition and continued to stand with Australian families who need access to proton therapy.

This week, I sent an open letter to the Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas, asking for a genuine meeting about the future of proton therapy in South Australia and the Australian Bragg Centre.

That request has now been officially acknowledged by the Office of the Premier.

The response stated:

“Your request is currently being considered and a response will be forthcoming in due course.”

I have since replied, thanking the Premier’s Office for their acknowledgement and again making clear that this issue needs urgent leadership.

The full open letter, and my response to the Premier’s Office, can be found on the Proton Cancer Access Australia social media pages.

But now we need your help.

There are more than 30,000 people connected to this petition.

If every person sent one short email to the Premier, the message would be impossible to ignore.

Please email: premier@sa.gov.au

You do not need to write a long letter. A short message is enough.

You could write:

“Dear Premier,

I support the request for a meeting about proton therapy in South Australia.

Please act urgently to complete the Australian Bragg Centre and deliver proton therapy for Australian patients.

Families should not have to leave the country to access a treatment Australia has known it needs for years.

Kind regards,
[Your name]”

The louder we are, the harder we are to ignore.

Silence is not enough.

We need leadership.

Today.

For the children still to be diagnosed.
For complex cancer patients.
For families fundraising, pleading, travelling or missing out.
For every Australian who deserves access to modern cancer treatment here at home.

Please send an email to premier@sa.gov.au today, then share this update and ask others to do the same.
