It’s time the Australian Government made motorists aware of roadworks and how to drive safely through them. Too many Traffic Controllers are dying and being injured because some people don’t care how they drive through roadworks. Working as a traffic controller is a dangerous job. It’s definitely not easy and it’s becoming more and more UNSAFE!!!! 
Some people “don’t see” the traffic controller standing there in Hi-vis clothing  or any of the many signs that we put out leading up to the roadworks as they nearly hit us.  We’ve had enough of these excuses. We have also had enough of the abuse that people yell and the objects they throw out their windows at us. WE ARE JUST DOING OUR JOB like everyone else.

It’s time for change. The Australian Government needs to STAND UP and TAKE ACTION!! We, as Traffic Controllers have had enough.

How many more of us need to be injured or killed as a result o careless motorists?

There needs to be Australia wide Advertising  now on HOW TO APPROACH and DRIVE THROUGH ROADWORKS SAFELY !! Also, teach motorists that if we are holding them up it’s because we CANNOT get them through the site for safety reasons.

There also needs to be Mandatory fines for abuse, running our STOP bats, throwing objects at us, and any other wrong doings.
