It has been close to two months since we obtained 3000 signatures on this petition and it was sent to the Hon Greg Hunt's office. It has received no response to date. As predicted, with the doubling of 'Better Access' sessions in response to COVID-19 (the lowest clinical tier of support in the form of 'focused psychological strategies') is more out of reach and unaffordable than ever (as reported by the ABC). Meanwhile, highly qualified and experienced psychotherapists, cannot provide a subsidised service and are excluded from 'Better Access'. I have created a website below to advocate in a more public way to address this problem. I include on it links to the published evidence as well as editorials and opinion pieces on addressing access to psychotherapy. I also include a video presentation which I recently gave to the inaugural Australian Health Funding Summit. Please visit and promote this cause on social media and to your local federal member of parliament. The Australian public deserve to have subsidised psychotherapy by those most qualified to provide it across the entire stepped care continuum.
