Say no to a cashless society! 

Sign this petition to keep cash a legal tender and make it illegal for cash not to be accepted as legal tender.

Australia is fast becoming a cashless society. Since COVID-19, businesses everywhere are putting in place signs stating “we do not accept cash”, we can not let this happen. This is harmful to our society, and our independence. It puts vulnerable people at more risk. It also puts us all at the mercy of banks and jeopardises our right to trade directly with who we chose rather than having banks or government involvement our private business.

Since 2018, Sweden became a virtually cashless society. Since then when the banking system has gone off line there have been times people were not able to purchase basic and essential good including food and medicine. Some individuals have reported banks randomly freezing their accounts leaving them penniless for weeks without an explanation.

What  'Cashless' Means

Your payment information is accessible to all the businesses that you transact with and personal data can be vulnerable to data breaches. If your account is hacked, all your savings could be stolen. Technical problems and power outages and downtime will stop your access to your money.

People from the lower economic strata, especially those who are without bank accounts, could face difficulties paying or receiving money. The same holds true for the older generation who may not be comfortable with digital modes of payment.

Banks, businesses, and other institutions already charge an administration fee for digital transactions. Without cash, you will have no choice but to pay more fees.

Banks have full control of every single dollar you own.

Every transaction you make is recorded and that means data and already your personal data is not secure proven time and time again.

Access to your money can be blocked at the click of a button when/if banks need ‘clarification’ from you on any matter. What if all the red tape processes took 2 weeks to get you back online; what if it didn't happen?

If your transactions are deemed in any way 'questionable' by those who create the questions, your money could be frozen... ‘for your own good.’

Cash has been around for a very long time & it gives you control over how you trade with the world. It gives you independence.
