The animal cruelty database will ensure that no one who has ever committed an act of animal cruelty can own a pet.

There are too many animal cruelty cases in Australia today. It is time we did something to stop this. A fine is CLEARLY not enough to deter people.

Letter to
Australian federal government
We need to take action to STOP animal cruelty. This is a huge task, but I believe the first step we need to take is to enforce an animal cruelty database.

The animal cruelty database will ensure that no one who has ever committed an act of animal cruelty can buy a pet through a registered pet store or breeder. The database should mimic that of a sexual offenders database and should be taken just as seriously.

I propose that if the person who committed the act of cruelty buy another pet, he/she should be sentenced to time in jail. I propose too, if a person sells a pet to someone on the database, they should be banned from breeding/selling animals, should be placed in the database, and should be charged with Animal Cruelty.

There are too many animal cruelty cases in Australia today. It is time we did something to stop this. A fine is clearly not enough to deter people.
