We are the grips of a pandemic - COVID-19. This virus is highly transmissible and highly contagious; living on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Due to this the best way to stop the spread (as seen in other countries) is to impose a shutdown and sanitise the community.

People should not have to choose between their livelihoods and their health. In the UK they have offered 80% of each persons wage to employers if they keep their staff on. This allows people to self isolate without compromising their livelihood. 
So based on this what do we want?

- Mandatory 4 week lockdown - state wide -with only essential services such as hospitals, pharmacies, food production etc open. 

- Closure of schools - with the excemption for children of medical staff. Temperature checks before entry and any child with a fever is sent home immediately

- Income support. Provide employers 80% of their staff salary in order to retain jobs

- Mortgage repayment holds for 3 months for ALL - not just small businesses.

- Rent holds for all for 3 months

- Full sterilisation of public places and transport while lockdown is in effect 

People are anxious, living in a state of limbo awaiting a lockdown that may come too late. Release the community tension. Half measures will not do and is causing prolonged, unnecessary suffering. If this goes on for 6 months many more businesses will go under. Let’s stop it while we can.  Let’s go in hard and fight this Rona dog! We can do it and come out the other side better then before!
