In speaking with carers, vets and others in the burned habitat areas, reports of extraordinary interference by DELWP (Dept. Environment, Land, Water & Planning) are coming in.
DELWP is a Victorian State Government Department. On their website they claim "DELWP works in partnership with a range of agencies and stakeholders to protect and preserve Victoria’s native landscape through a range of biodiversity, wildlife, sustainability, climate change and community programs."
As it turns out, to quote one rescuer on the ground "In all my years, I've never known DELWP to be so obstructive".
It is well reported among rescuers (and carers) that DELWP have had extraordinary policies in place that have prevented wildlife rescuers from doing their job for many years, but this fire season, "something stinks".
The Australian governments, ALL of them; are responsible and morally obliged to act as caretakers of all of Australia.
That INCLUDES animals & habitat and the preservation and protection of them.
Evidence is being collected by many, and will become public in time.
