Electric shock collars are already illegal in the Australian States of South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, and with the exception of invisible fence shock collars in New South Wales under the animal welfare acts of the states.

Electric shock collars are an effective device for torture, not for training companion animals. The injuries caused by such devices, both visibly apparent, and to vital functions of the brain of the animal being shocked into submission, are reminiscent of a medieval by-gone era of humanity when humans thought nothing of torturing each other. Scientific studies have conclusively proven damage to the brain is caused by the use of these devices, and the visible evidence of these barbaric tools is readily seen on any animal they are used on due to the metal spikes that are pushed into the skin of each animal in order to deliver the electric shock more efficiently.

We owe it to our companion animals to train them via modern methods, and not to cause them to submit to the will of a pseudo trainer via an excruciatingly painful electric shock device.
