Australian Coffee Traders Association Inc: Stop the extra charge for soy milk at cafes and restaurants.

Lactose intolerance is a common diagnosis amongst many Australians, in which regular milk cannot be digested. It is unfortunate that the majority of cafes and restaurants are charging an extra 30-70 cents per standard cup of coffee for those who request soy milk. Although the market price of soy is slightly higher than that of regular milk, one must consider the economical effects this extra charge could have for those who cannot consume regular cow's milk. With the longer shelf life of soy milk and the profit margins still being high per cup of coffee if the charge was not induced, this petition will hopefully get the ACTA to ban the extra charge for soy milk, as it is almost an act of discrimination for the lactose intolerant.
