You may have missed it, but on the Migraine Australia website we provide a bit more information on the background as to why something as desperate as this petition is needed. 

Migraine Australia has been talking to the ABS and Minister Sukkar about this issue since 2019. We were assured by the Minister's office that there would be more consultations, and there would be a text box where we could write in migraine and other conditions. 

The Minister's office was wrong, and the ABS was unmovable: there would be no further consultations, and migraine would not be counted in the census. 

Why the ABS is so hell-bent on collecting bad data that continues to embed discrimination against migraine (and many other diseases that predominantly affect women like fibromyalgia, endometriosis, and so many more) is anyone's guess. But we can show how angry we are at this deliberate, intentional exclusion of one of the most debilitating conditions in the world (according to the WHO).

Migraine matters. We deserve to be counted.
