We've had a couple of messages from people who suffer from other long term health conditions that are often ignored and dismissed... they're going to request paper forms so they can write in their disorders too!
The way that question 28 has been designed it only reinforces the existing myths of which health conditions are the most common. It's not actually going to get any useful or reliable information.
Notice how none of the disorders on the list are women's health issues? Or even conditions that are significantly more common in women like migraine? There's no fibromyalgia or endometriosis or hundred other conditions far more common than, say, kidney disease. That's not to say that kidney disease isn't important, it's simply to point out that the ABS rationale for why that list of disorders were included and others left out simply doesn't stack up.
There are many communities of patient who don't understand why their condition doesn't get funding or good health services, and others get more than their fair share. Things like Question 28 are why! We need to fix the problem and get our condition seen by getting our conditions counted.
If you have another health condition, you can #FixQn28 for that community too! Ask for a paper form so you can write in all your long-term health conditions, and share this petition with others with your condition! We can do this together!
