Craig Tiley thought he had found a loophole in Australia’s vaccine rules to get Novak Djokovic  to compete in the Australian Open. It turned into an international embarrassment.

The Australian Open is held in Melbourne. A place that had the world's longest lockdown due to Covid-19. Incredible scarifices were made and still being made to protect the public health. 

Logic would suggest that when the Victorian government announced a vaccination mandate last year, demanding sportspeople much like teachers, health workers and other professionals in various industries operate under new protocols, they would all fall into line.

Craig Tiley had other ideas. He schemed  and plotted a course to assist Djokovic be above ordinary Victorian's. His selfish cowardly actions are not just a slap in the face of the Australian public but he provided a message of support to anti-vax crusaders. The whole world including Tiley was aware of this  player high profile anti-vax position yet thought it completely acceptable to allow his entry. Even when it was in compete contrast to the Australian public opinion, and even more so the opinion of tennis fans.

His unscrupulous actions required the Federal court to be forsed to intervien in a situation that could easily have been resolved anytime in the last 12 months by setting clear Tournament entry requirements. His thoughtless and reckless actions caused reputation damage to Australia as a nation and out at risk decades of work gaining the Australian open as one of the most important global tennis event. 

The economic consequences of his behavior had potential for generational damage, due to putting at risk this important event to Melbourne, and seeing it moved overseas. The actions caused irreparable damage to  public trust  and he single handadly risked Australia's reputation for his own selfish agenda to allow his close friend to play.

This man is a ecogtisyical maglamanic who doesn't deserve to hold this position and he should be held to account immediately or respectful fall on his sword.
