Australia: End Complicity! Demand Optimal Aid for Gaza, Boycott Israel & Uphold Int. Law
The issue
The people of Gaza are facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. For months, the world has witnessed unimaginable suffering: tens of thousands killed, including an appalling number of women and children; widespread famine and starvation deliberately inflicted; over 1.9 million people displaced, many multiple times; and a healthcare system decimated. Essential aid is systematically blocked or severely restricted by Israeli authorities, turning Gaza into what UN experts have described as an "uninhabitable" zone where "acts of genocide" are plausibly occurring.
Australians are watching in horror, and we ask: Is our government doing enough? Or is Australia complicit in these atrocities?
While our government has expressed concern and committed some aid, this is not enough. Credible reports from organisations like the Australian Centre for International Justice (ACIJ) and Declassified Australia reveal that Australian-made military components and technology may still be reaching Israel, potentially used in the ongoing assault on Gaza. This is unacceptable and directly contradicts our nation's values of peace, justice, and respect for human rights.
We, the undersigned concerned citizens of Australia, can no longer stand by while our government offers words but falls short on decisive, principled action. We demand an ethical Australian foreign policy that actively works to alleviate suffering and uphold international law.
Therefore, we call on the Australian Government to immediately:
Deliver Optimal Humanitarian Support for Gaza:
Significantly increase humanitarian aid to meet the catastrophic level of need.
Use all diplomatic channels to ensure immediate, unhindered, and safe access for all necessary aid into and throughout all parts of Gaza.
Robustly support and fund UNRWA and other credible humanitarian agencies on the ground.
Actively advocate for and take measures to ensure the full protection of civilians and aid workers in accordance with international humanitarian law.
Implement a Comprehensive Boycott of Israel, Commencing with All Military Trade:
Impose a full, immediate, and two-way arms embargo on Israel, including a ban on the export and import of all military equipment, components, technology, and services.
Urgently review and suspend any economic, trade, or investment ties with Israeli entities (governmental or corporate) that sustain or profit from the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, violations of international law, or the current military offensive.
Uphold International Law & Ensure Accountability:
Publicly and unequivocally condemn all violations of international law committed by the Israeli government and military in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Apply targeted sanctions against Israeli officials and entities responsible for grave human rights violations, war crimes, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid.
Actively support and cooperate fully with investigations by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) into alleged crimes committed in Palestine, including by providing financial and political backing.
Your voice matters. Australia's actions matter. We cannot allow our nation to be complicit, even indirectly, in the suffering and devastation being inflicted upon the Palestinian people. It is time for Australia to align its actions with its stated values and its obligations under international law.
Join us in demanding that the Australian Government takes meaningful, principled action NOW.
Sign this petition to urge our leaders to choose compassion, justice, and peace.
