To our incredible supporters,

As we head into the election, it’s more important than ever to know where the major parties stand on the issue of Australia Day.

The major parties were asked whether they agree or disagree with the statement: "Australia Day should continue to be celebrated on January 26."

The Greens did not support this, while the Labor Party, One Nation, and the Liberal Party all support this statement and do not want to change Australia Day from January 26 to a more inclusive date. (Source: Vote Compass, ABC)

For many Australians, Jan 26 is celebrated as “Australia Day,” marking the 1788 landing of the First Fleet. However, for First Nations people, the day is one of mourning, survival, invasion, and remembrance.

We’re excited to have a commitment from the Australian Greens candidate Samantha Ratnam to support and table our petition if elected. Now, it’s time to keep the pressure on and make sure our voices are heard.

Please share our Clothing The Gaps Instagram and Facebook posts about what the major the parties think and and help us hit 70,000+ supporters.

Yours in the struggle,
